KJSCE Skream- A National Level Sports Festival started off 3 years ago with the sole purpose of putting passion and spirit of sports on the platform it deserves. This year will be the fourth edition of the four day sporting extravaganza. Hosting a varied set of events, colossal crowds and eminent personalities, Skream 2017 has a plethora of new competitive opportunities in store to showcase your talent in various sports at the state of art sporting facilities provided by the college.
Skream 2016 in its 3rd edition was conducted from 4th to 8th February,2016 and hosted teams from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Goa, Jaipur and Uttar Pradesh. There were around 40+ colleges participating in all its events. There was a boosted girls participation in sporting events like Football, Badminton, Basketball, Athletics and Chess. Skream saw a footfall of about 6000+ people over the fest period of 4 days. The support for the teams could be witnessed in the crowd especially for the home team. The level of the competition also went several notches up for the semis and the finals. The faculty of KJSCE also took great set of interest in all the sporting events and enjoyed the spirit of Skream thoroughly.
Ms. Manasi Joshi, an alumnus of KJSCE and a Silver Medallist in Badminton at the Paralympics World Championship 2012 graced the event with her presence. A Mallakhamb performance by Mallakhamb INDIA enthralled everyone at the opening ceremony of Skream 2016. Former Indian test cricketer Balwinder Singh Sandhu and former National Women’s Hockey Coach Mir Ranjan Negi were also present to motivate the participating players from all contingents..
Set in the heart of the city, K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering is located in the Somaiya Campus at Vidyavihar. Catering to about 40,000 students every day, this campus offers diverse ?elds of education such as Engineering, Management, Commerce, Arts and Sciences. Along with numerous institutes, Somaiya Vidyavihar also boasts of a campus covering 65 acres.
This 65 acres campus covers an Olympic Certified Football Ground which has had players from the Mumbai FC, ISL team practising here. It also has a olympic certified athletic track which is setup for all the athletic events with a synthetic volleyball court besides it. Somaiya Campus also has a full size basketball court along with a fully renovated lawn tennis court. It also has newly re-designed synthetic badminton court, a synthetic handball court, a full size cricket ground, indoor squash court and a state of the art table tennis room. Somaiya acts as the ideal centre to promote the spirit of all sports amongst the students alongside their ongoing educational courses.
Skream mainly features these 13 different sports namely Football, Cricket, Basketball, Tennis Table, Tennis, Carrom, Chess, Box-Cricket, Athletics, Rink Football, Badminton, Squash and Volleyball. Alongside, Skream will also host events like Pickle-ball, neon football and paintball
Skream 2017 will have a contingency system this year too. It has proved to be one of the main reasons for the increase in the participation of contingent teams from all over India. Skream saw a neck to neck battle between ICT and IIT B for winning the contingent trophy but the ultimate result concluded declaring IIT B as the champions of the festival.
Apart from the sporting aspect of the event, what sets Skream 2017 apart from any other sporting event across the country is the amazing hospitality of the Organising Committee for the large number of contingents participating from outstation and otherwise. The event will have various cultural performances and social mixer Sessions to provide the sportspersons an opportunity to get to know each other and establish a general atmosphere of bonhomie among the players.
